Shannon Houk, Mermaid Shannon (aka Mermaid May ) is a Silverton Mermaid in Las Vegas, a National Champion mermaid athlete, instructor, and international performer. She has been featured in underwater shows at the Silverton Aquarium for years and teaches aspiring swimmers through the Silverton Mermaid School.
Beyond live performance, Mermaid Shannon Houk has appeared on Discovery Channel’s Adventure Cities and in multiple news features, sharing her passion for mermaiding, underwater artistry, and ocean education with audiences around the world.
She also holds a national title in dynamic apnea (breath-hold swimming) and continues to push the limits of underwater endurance. In addition to her mermaid career, Shannon is pursuing a Master’s degree in Marine Science, focusing on ocean conservation and the impacts of human activity on marine ecosystems. Her work bridges athleticism, education, and science — making her a unique voice in both the mermaiding and ocean advocacy communities.
